SAVVY with Extended Work Chamber
Even though the range of LAMSYSTEMS serial products is wide, our specialists are often facing requests for non-standard equipment.
Even though the range of LAMSYSTEMS serial products is wide, our specialists are often facing requests for non-standard equipment.
Likewise, one of Syngenta sites located in Ghent (Belgium) ordered a SAVVY cabinet with extended work chamber*. The site is the leading center developing RNA interference (RNAi) technologies and researching the usage of RNAi for pest control.
To enhance the quality of the research processes, the center invested into an automated system Ambr15f by Sartorius. Naturally, the process required sterile environment and the system had to be placed into the Class II microbiological safety cabinet. At this stage, the need for a new customized product came into the picture.
As one of Syngenta representatives explained, the Ambr15f system is large and heavy. The biosafety cabinets that were already at site were not big or robust enough to accommodate the device. Moreover, the configuration of most of the biological safety cabinets does not allow complete opening of the front sash required to install large equipment.
To solve the problem, LAMSYSTEMS specialists had to modify the configuration of the standard cabinet taking into account the requirements of the Customer and at the same time maintaining the safety efficiency of the standard SAVVY model.
We would like to thank Syngenta for providing the photos of the cabinet at installation site.
* In respect to standard cabinet, the work chamber was increased by 200 mm in depth and by 130 mm in height.
